Entertainment CD-ROM

"Clay Walker's Sistine Chapel... the interactive portion of the CD is cutting-edge by industry standards..." CNN 9/16/98

Very, VERY, very happy to report that the Zippers "Perennial Favorites" is also an interactive CD-ROM.

The CD-ROM comes fully-loaded. I am certain everything you ever wanted to know about the band is in there.

Photography for the piece took place in Atlanta, Chapel Hill & surrounding area, Athens, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, New Orleans, Memphis, Kansas City & Philadelphia.

 Content:

18 minutes of live performance video - 15 different clips including 8 songs from the new CD, a backstage montage taken from 8+ shows, a documentary on recording "Perennial Favorites" at Kensway, the MTV banned "Put A Lid On It" video in its entirety & some other funny stuff.

22 minutes of additional audio including audio clips & lyrics to all songs from "The Inevitable," "Hot," & "Sold Out." The "Perennial Favorites" section accesses the audio tracks from the CD directly so the "Perennial Favorites" audio tracks are there in their entirety in full CD audio quality.

Also included is a 363 page interactive book that goes through the history & formation of the Zippers through a series of interviews over the last 2 years with Katharine Whalen, Jimbo Mathus, Chris Phillips, Tom Maxwell, Je Widenhouse, Tom Maxwell, Ken Mosher, Andrew Bird, Mike Napolitano & Don Raleigh. Also discussed is the creation of all the Zipper songs from "Inevitable" to "Perennial" from a variety of bandmember perspectives. A lot of other things are discussed as well - that's why it is sooo long. It is split up into sections throughout the CD-ROM. There are very rare personal photos throughout the book's sections as well.

I took the content from everything that I have done with the band over the last 3 years. I didn't want to hold back anything that might be of interest to fans of the band. It's all in there.

The CD is compatible with all Macintosh models, Windows 95 & NT. (Will not work with Windows 3.1)

The disc is dependent on Apple's Quicktime 3 technology. You can install QT3 directly from the CD if you do not have it.

FAQS

TECHNICAL TROUBLESHOOTING

The initial feedback this week seems to be that a lot of you on W95 are having trouble getting QT3 to install correctly & if you do, the CD-ROM is still telling you that it is not correctly installed. This appears to be a flaw in Macromedia Director 's ability to properly test to see whether or not QT3 is correctly installed. I have created a new .EXE that you can run from anywhere on your harddrive that should sove the problem.

This is for Windows 95 users only. I'm not sure about the compatibility with W98.

Click here for the NEW Perennial Favorites .EXE (uploaded 9/24/98)

You must have the Perennial Favorites ECD in your CD-ROM drive & QT3 installed.!

If you run this new .EXE & get a big red "X" on the screen, you do not have QT3 installed & you do need to install it.

-----------------

In it's creation I tested the disc on about 7 different W95 machines & it worked on all of them. However, I don't doubt you are having trouble because there are so many configuration possibilities which can create countless problems. Also, I did not get an advance from the record label to test before the CD was mass-produced and sent to stores.

If you are having trouble with Quicktime 3 you might want to check out www.quicktime.com for answers.

You can also try the troubleshooting link under the "Hot" album section of this website. Everything on that page will apply to "Perennial" with the exception of Quicktime 3 problems.
